Danesfield House Hotel & Spa

Perched above the River Thames, Danesfield House is a breathtaking Victorian mansion with castle-like grandeur, sweeping formal gardens and views that feel straight out of a storybook. We couldn't imagine a more magical setting to celebrate with the people we love most.

Accommodation

We have reserved rooms at Danesfield House the night before, the wedding night, and the night after. You're of course welcome to arrange accommodation wherever suits you best. Please note that the ceremony begins at 13:30, which is before the hotel's standard check-in at 15:00, so it may be wise to arrive the day before if you have a long journey.

Questions & Answers

How do I get there?

The nearest airports are Heathrow (about 40 minutes away) and Gatwick (around 1 hour). From the airport, you can take the train, order a taxi, or grab an Uber. If you're coming by train, the nearest station is Marlow, about 10 minutes by car from the venue.

Do I need a visa to enter the UK?

Since Brexit, most non-British and non-Irish citizens need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the UK. It costs £16 and you can apply through the official UK ETA app before your trip. Also, the UK uses Type G plugs (the big three-pin ones), so bring a travel adapter!

Can I park at the venue?

Yes! Danesfield House has free on-site parking for all guests, located in the courtyard area.

Can I bring a plus one?

If you have a spouse, fiancé, or a partner you live with and/or have children with, then yes, absolutely! If you're travelling from Canada or the US, you automatically get a plus one (we appreciate the journey!). If you're unsure, just reach out and ask us.

What about the kids?

Emrie and his cousins will join parts of the day, and you might spot a baby or two as well. However, there won't be a kids' table or children's menu — both the dinner and the party are adults-only. Expect drinks and loud music late into the night. Tip: some guests have booked an extra room at the hotel where a babysitter can watch the little ones while they hit the dance floor.

What should I wear?

Think floor-length gowns and sharp suits. We love a tux, but any style of suit and colour works (and yes, linen is absolutely fine!). The only rule for everyone: avoid white, cream, or ivory — that's reserved for the bride. Check out our dresscode page for inspiration!

How long are the NewlyWeds staying at the venue?

We haven't decided yet! We're considering staying the weekend at the venue, sneaking off on a minimoon, or heading to London with friends to continue the celebration. We'll update here when we decide.

Will there be a welcome party?

Nothing official, but we're thinking of booking a few tables at the local pub the evening before for a casual get-together. The wedding day can fly by, and we want as much time as possible with everyone — both those we see every day and those we've been missing. We'll update here once we know more!

What about gifts?

We have no registry and we genuinely don't want anything. You're already taking time off, travelling far, and spending money on everything from the hotel to a fancy outfit. Your presence is truly the only gift we need. Just bring yourselves (and your dancing shoes).
